Peking drugmaker Pfizer Inc. has agreed to buy US-based Chinese-owned subsidiary of Pfizer Inc. for $100 billion in a "limited liability company deal," analysts said.
Peking-based Pfizer said it will buy US-based China-based rival Eli Lilly and Company for $5.2 billion and sell its products in the US, China and elsewhere, for $2.6 billion, with $5.2 billion in annual sales.
The deal gives Pfizer exclusive rights to sell its drugs in the US and China for up to 20 years, and it also gives the US subsidiary exclusive rights to sell its products in other countries.
"We are in a better position now than before to decide whether or not we will be able to bring to market medicines that we believe are safe and effective," said Edward Jones analyst Davidesame.com analyst Jeff Lehr. "We are very pleased with the outcome."
Pfizer will provide US-based Eli Lilly and Company and Chinese-owned Chinese drugmaker Wuhan Biopharmaceutical Co. the right to sell its products in the United States and other countries.
